Russell Thompson

Vice President, Operations at Duke University

Russell Thompson has been with Duke University since 2007, where they are currently the Vice President of Operations. Prior to their current role, Russell was the Central Utilities Manager at Texas Instruments. In this role, they were responsible for leading a team of 60 employees that operated, maintained, and engineered utilities for TI’s 250-acre North Campus. Under Russell’s leadership, the team increased system reliability by over 75% while reducing maintenance cost by 23%.

Before joining Texas Instruments in 1987, Russell held various positions in the engineering and construction industry. Russell is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, where they received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.

Russell Thompson received their Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Old Dominion University. Russell then went on to receive their Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Engineering Management from The University of Dallas.

They work with Antwan Lofton - Vice President, Human Resources, Nina E. King - VP & Director, Athletics, and Jennifer Lodge - Vice President for Research & Innovation. Their manager is Vincent E. Price, President.
