John Orta

John joined Nextdoor from Metromile, the leader in pay-per-mile auto insurance as its Chief People Officer & General Counsel. Prior to his role at Metromile, John was SVP & General Counsel at OpenTable, leading the legal team during the company’s IPO in 2009, and OpenTable’s purchase by The Priceline Group in 2014. Adjacent to his role at Nextdoor, John is also a professor at the University of San Francisco School of Law. John oversees all aspects of the company’s legal and risk teams. John grew up in Phoenix, AZ and is a proud graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara. He also received a JD from the University of San Francisco School of Law and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley.
