Head of Business Risk Management at Optus

Poppy is the Head of Business Risk Management, responsible for establishing a Business Risk Management team for Consumer Australia. This function is focussed on assisting the business to manage its risk and compliance responsibilities, while balancing customer, regulatory and business needs to ensure we maintain great customer outcomes.

Poppy brings a wealth of experience from several industries and has held roles across risk management, strategy and transformation, corporate affairs, and marketing. Most recently, Poppy was at NBN Co Australia, where she established a Line 1 Business risk function and delivered an IT risk and controls transformation program for NBN Co. Poppy started her career as an economist for a number of international investment banks, before joining Commonwealth Bank in 2002, where she held a variety of senior roles in strategy, marketing and corporate affairs, and risk management. Her customer-centric approach, coupled with a depth of understanding of the challenges in the economic, regulatory, and technology landscapes has meant she takes a pragmatic risk-based approach to managing customer and organisational outcomes.

Poppy has a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) from Deakin University and Bachelor of Economics from La Trobe University, and lives in Sydney with her husband, daughter and cavoodle.
