John Slater

SVP, Inflight Services at United Airlines

John Slater is senior vice president of inflight services for United. He is responsible for all aspects of inflight operations, including more than 24,000 flight attendants. He also oversees administration, flight attendant scheduling, policy and procedures, service, staffing, training, and recruiting. Slater brings with him decades of experience and a deep commitment to providing excellent customer service on board United's flights.

Most recently, John was the vice president of inflight operations where he was responsible for training, recruiting, service standards, and operational planning for the inflight division. He was also the vice president of United’s Chicago hub, where he oversaw operations and customer service at Chicago O’Hare. Prior to this role, John was the vice president of sales of the Americas where he oversaw United’s commercial sales division for the U.S., Canada and Latin America.

Slater served as Continental’s staff vice president of Latin America. He managed the commercial strategy and management of the Latin America franchise.

Slater was on the executive boards of the Airline Report Corporation, the Global Business Travel Association and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

He has two children and three grandchildren.
