Scott Friedman steps down as Chief Compliance Officer at Robinhood

In a statement, Robinhood announced several changes to its management team. Most notably, Scott Friedman is stepping down as Chief Compliance Officer and taking a new advisory role as VP of Compliance Affairs. John Castelly will succeed Friedman as Chief Compliance Officer who is transitioning out of day-to-day operational management.

Castelly joins Robinhood from Personal Capital, where he served as Chief Compliance Officer. John has also worked in senior legal roles at TD Ameritrade, and the SEC.

"An impressive group of seasoned leaders is joining Robinhood’s management this spring. They will bolster our existing teams and keep us moving towards our mission of democratizing our financial system for everyone. The new team members join us from places such as the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, and Amazon," Robinhood said.

Robinhood made several other changes including the appointments of Rich Jackson as VP of Risk and Compliance, Smeeta Ramarathnam as Deputy General Counsel, Jim Swartwout as Head of Clearing Operations, and Rich Cho as Head of Recruiting.
