Leading data science and analytics provider Alteryx has announced the appointment of Billy Spears as its new Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). Effective immediately, Spears will lead all areas of the company’s physical, information, application, and cybersecurity efforts. He will report directly to company CEO Dean Stoecker.
Spears brings over 25 years of cybersecurity experience to the team at Alteryx, having held in leadership roles in both the public and private sectors at Dell and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He most recently served as the Executive Vice President, Chief Information Security Officer at loanDepot, where he worked for nearly three years.
For his move to Alteryx, Spears noted he is “excited to join an incredibly talented group of global professionals, driven by co-founder and CEO Dean Stoecker’s vision, leadership, and passion, working together to solve complex data analytics business challenges.” He also noted the company's culture and focus on security and privacy as drivers for joining the team.
As he joins, Spears said his first initiative will be to learn as much as possible from the rest of the team at Alteryx. In addition, he noted, “I am excited to partner with our management team to establish a synergistic strategy to improve security and privacy protection capabilities for our customers, partners, vendors and associates. Longer term, my goal is to mature our security program and evolve into a more process-oriented organization to drive efficiency and provide a consistent proactive risk management capability.”
