Banana Republic Finds a New Chief Brand Officer After CEO Refresh

Banana Republic, the luxury arm of Gap, has announced Ana Andjelic has joined the company as its new Chief Brand Officer, effective immediately.

In a LinkedIn post announcing the hire, Banana Republic highlighted Andjelic’s 15 years leading luxury lifestyle brands and called her “a highly strategic thinker alongside an immense creative muscle.” According to her own profile, she “focuses on brand-driven management and growth of modern businesses,” she also “works with companies to develop new business models, value architectures and revenue streams.”

Prior to joining the clothing retailer, Andjelic worked as the Chief Marketing Officer at fashion and apparel company Mansur Gavriel, where she developed an omnichannel brand strategy. She also served as the Chief Brand Officer at Rebecca Minkoff fashion label and has held senior strategy and digital strategy roles at a range of businesses including Havas and HUGE.

She is also the author of "The Business of Aspiration" and was named one of Forbes’ Most Influential CMO in 2020.

Andjelic’s hire signals a larger executive refresh at Banana Republic as the subsidiary brought on a new CEO, Sandra Stangl, in December 2020. As the top brand executive for Banana Republic, Andjelic will likely play a key role in the brand's reorientation as under Gap's "Power Plan 2023."
