McKesson Corporation, currently ranked 6th on the FORTUNE 500, has announced that Brian Tyler is the company’s new chief executive officer succeeding John Hammergren. Tyler is a 22-year McKesson veteran who has headed up nearly every major business within the company as well as McKesson’s corporate strategy and business development unit. Most recently, Tyler served as COO and president of McKesson.

In a statement, Tyler said: "If you told me 20 years ago that someday I’d be CEO of a Fortune 6 company, I would have told you my dreams weren’t that big. But here I am, less than a week from taking the reins at McKesson Corporation, the company that has been my home away from home for more than two decades."

Edward Mueller, previously lead independent director, takes over as independent chair of the company’s Board of Directors today and will provide strong leadership continuity for the Board. He has been a member of the company’s Board since April 2008 and the lead independent director since 2013.

McKesson is a global leader in healthcare supply chain management solutions, retail pharmacy, community oncology and specialty care, and healthcare information technology.
