Nick Kaufman has joined the Clubhouse team to lead the strategy behind programming and trending at the live-audio app that was reportedly in talks to raise money at a $4 billion valuation earlier this month.
The Clubhouse team has been rapidly expanding in size, growing from nine to 35 employees since February. It’s been recruiting executives from all over the tech industry, using its buzz to bring in hires from Google, Netflix and Instagram all in the last month.
Some notable recent hires include music industry veteran Fadia Kader, who left Instagram last month to become Head of Media Partnerships and Creators at the app, and Maya Watson, who left her social media strategy role at Netflix to become Clubhouse’s Global Head of Marketing in March.
Kaufman spent the past two years as the Trends & Culture Lead at TikTok, where he created and delivered insights on emerging trends and user behavior for the content creation app. Before that, he worked at Snap Inc., working his way up from Story Editor to Lead Producer for the Entertainment & Lifestyle team at Snapchat.
He got his start in entertainment media at MTV, where he worked as a writer’s assistant and on the production crew for the sitcom “ The Hard Times of RJ Berger.”
