During her short tenure at the file hosting company, Nottebohm led Dropbox’s business operations, including sales, customer experience, business development, strategy, marketing, and communications, as well as the its people team. Dropbox CEO Drew Houston said that over the past year she has brought a critical eye to Dropbox’s go-to-market functions, championed its customers as it shifted to a fully distributed environment, and helped unify the company’s sales, marketing, and support teams.
Before she joined Dropbox in February 2020, Nottebohm spent five years at Google where she most recently served as the VP of SMB Google Cloud & GTM Operations. Prior to joining the search giant Nottebohm enjoyed a 15-year career at McKinsey & Company where she was a partner in the consulting company’s tech practice. While at McKinsey she focused on product management, product marketing, and GTM across tech.
Dropbox hopes the cuts will make the company more efficient and nimble as it focuses on evolving the core Dropbox experience, investing in new products built for distributed work, and driving operational excellence.
Part of the reason Dropbox was able to make such deep cuts was the switch to remote work, as the company stated it no longer needed as many personal and resources to support its in-office environment. The company will scale back those in-office investments and reallocate those resources to drive its product roadmap.
In the company’s announcement, Houston stated, “I know this is a hard day, and I want to thank everyone in advance for your kindness and professionalism as we navigate through it. Building Dropbox with all of you has been my life’s work, and I’m sincerely grateful for every one of you and the role that you've played in the company.”
