Cloud business software startup Freshworks, a chief rival of Salesforce, has appointed veteran financial executive Tyler Sloat as its CFO.

Sloat joins Freshworks from enterprise software company Zuora where he served as CFO for 10 years and oversaw the firm’s IPO. Prior to joining Zuora, Sloat was the CFO of IT service management company Obopay for just over 3 years. Additionally, Sloat has held executive finance roles at cloud services company NetApp and software firm Siebel Systems, which has since been acquired by Oracle.

At Freshworks, Sloat will manage accounting, finance, legal and IT functions, as well as overseeing growth across the company’s customer segments amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Sloat stated "The market has changed, but the business fundamentals that fuel Freshworks sustained growth have not. We are seeing increased demand for products that better automate customer support and IT services while helping teams work better remotely during this critical time."

Freshworks Founder and CEO Girish Mathrubootham said, "Tyler brings a strong performance record, financial acumen, and strategic insight which is requisite to running a disciplined business model that also accelerates our ability to achieve a billion dollars in revenue in the coming years."

Freshworks, which is valued at $3.5 billion, recently surpassed $200 million in annual recurring revenue and is reportedly planning an IPO, which could be delayed by the coronavirus pandemic.
