BenchSci, a Toronto-based startup using AI applications to speed up medicine research and development, has hired Eran Ben-Ari as its first-ever Chief Platform Officer. Effective June 28, he oversees the product, engineering and science teams.

His move to BenchSci comes as the company looks to ramp up the growth of its machine-learning product portfolio and reach its goal of bringing novel medicines to patients 50% faster by 2025. It is backed by investors such as F-Prime Capital, Inovia Capital and Gradient Ventures, Google’s AI fund.

With over 15 years of experience leading product and engineering teams, Ben-Ari will be expected to use his background in improving the product development process and building cross-functional, high-performing teams to increase “product launch velocity,” according to a company press release.

"BenchSci is in hypergrowth, and Eran's leadership in this newly created role will be critical as we build a scalable and robust system to support a complex product portfolio," says CEO of BenchSci, Liran Belenzon. "His proven record with two of this country's success stories will be instrumental as we scale our product practice. He is a welcome addition to our executive team."

Before joining BenchSci, Ben-Ari was leading product and engineering teams of over 120 people. He was a Chief Product Officer at Top Hat and Kik Interactive.

Earlier in his career, he worked as VP of Product at Rounds Entertainment, which was acquired by Kik in 2017. He also had stints as VP of Marketing & Growth at Hola before it was acquired by EMK Capital and as VP of Product at Kampyle, acquired by Medallia.
