McGraw-Hill Promotes Simon Allen to CEO
"Simon has demonstrated tremendous leadership during his time as interim CEO and over his many years in the education sector," said Larry Berg, Senior Partner with Apollo Global Management and chairman of the Board of McGraw-Hill. "His ability to inspire and motivate people, his knowledge of the business born of years of experience in this sector, and his vision for growing our business make him the right choice. He has a deep understanding of what's needed to drive the company's success, and we look forward to continuing our work with him."
Allen brings with him over 25 years of experience in the education sector. He joined McGraw-Hill in 2018 as President of International and before that served in senior leadership positions at Macmillan Education and Pearson.
In his transition from Interim to full-time CEO, Allen stated "Our two top priorities right now are to support our employees so they feel safe and healthy and can continue their work during the COVID-19 pandemic, and to continue assisting educators, instructors and school and college leaders as they build effective online learning programs to support students learning remotely. This has been our focus since early March, and so far we've assisted more than 7,000 instructors at 1,500 U.S. colleges. That work will continue."
In addition to making sure employees are safe, and operations run smoothly during the COVID-19 pandemic, Allen will also look to prioritize and expand McGraw-Hill's digital offerings moving forward. Currently, over half of the company's billings now come digital offerings, a number they will look to grow in the future.
