Former three-term New York City mayor Mike Bloomberg’s technology firm Hawkfish, which is assisting the billionaire’s presidential campaign, has recently hired several high-profile executives from Goldman Sachs and Facebook, according to a CNBC report yesterday.
Hawkfish will be the “primary digital agency and technology services provider for the campaign,” Bloomberg campaign spokeswoman Julie Wood told CNBC. She stated that Bloomberg started the company in early 2019, prior to his decisions to seek the Democratic presidential nomination, and that the company would support Democratic races across the U.S. in future elections. The company has already worked on behalf of Democratic candidates in 2019 races in both Virginia and Kentucky.
Among the high profile executives who have been hired are Elisha Wiesel, former Goldman Sachs co-chief information officer, former Facebook Chief Marketing Officer Gary Briggs, and former Foursquare CEO Jeff Glueck.
Others who have joined Hawkfish from major tech companies include David Hammer, a former project manager at Google and Microsoft, Vinay Satish Kumar, a former engineering manager at Facebook, and Namik Hawkins, a former senior producer at Google and Facebook.
Hawkfish has at least 50 employees according to its LinkedIn page. The page also says that the company “aims to support candidates and causes who will advance progress on climate change, gun safety, women’s rights, education, access to healthcare, and more.”
