St. Clair is stepping in as the company’s Chief Financial Officer and will lead the company's financial operations. NerdWallet also plans to utilize her deep experience in financial planning, investor relations, and business acquisitions to continue its rapid growth at home and abroad.
Over the past year, NerdWallet has scaled its business significantly with two key acquisitions, while continuing an almost decade-long streak of profitable annual growth. In 2020, the company bought UK-based personal finance website Know Your Money to break into the local market and acquired US-based lending marketplace Fundera to broaden its reach with small businesses.
"We're thrilled to have Lauren on the team," CEO Tim Chen said in a press release. "Lauren joins us with obvious strengths when it comes to both being a strategically minded exec in a consumer marketplace and building high performing teams. Her expertise will be key in helping us scale the company as we evolve into a more mature, global business.”
St. Clair has almost two decades of financial experience at companies of all sizes. She most recently worked at eBay as the CFO of North America. Prior to eBay, St. Clair was the CFO of StubHub International from 2017 to 2019, where she directed all financial forecasting and reporting operations and served as interim co-GM for 9 months. She also held other senior finance roles at eBay from 2010 to 2017 as well as positions at PayPal and an early-stage startup.
St. Clair, who said she was impressed with the company’s fantastic business and solid financials, stated, "I'm excited to join NerdWallet after such a strong year of growth, and look forward to working alongside the 'Nerds' to continue building on this success and scaling the business."
