Okta announced that Mike Kourey will succeed Bill Losch and become the identity and access management company’s new Chief Financial Officer in March 2021. When Kourey assumes his new role, he will report directly to CEO and Co-Founder Todd McKinnon and step down from the company’s audit committee, which he has led for the past 5 years.

Losch, who had served as Okta’s CFO since 2013, will retire in March 2021 but will remain an advisor to the company through the end of the first quarter of its 2022 fiscal year.

McKinnon took the time to thank Losch for his contributions to the company and said, “He’s been a fantastic leader, partner, and friend, and we are all going to sincerely miss him. We’re excited for the next chapter for Bill and wish him nothing but the best in his retirement next year."

The CEO also welcomed Kourey, stating, “Mike’s career in technology, both as an executive leader and board member, is second to none. He brings decades of experience in scaling companies, which will be key as we position Okta to become the next iconic technology company.”

Okta enables companies to verify and secure the identities of their employees or customers and provide them with access to applications and websites using tools like multi-factor authentication and single sign-on services. Under Losch’s leadership, the company is on track to achieve over $1 billion in revenue next year, leaving big shoes to fill. But given Kourey’s depth of experience, he is more than capable of rising to the occasion.

Outside of his experience on Okta’s board, Kourey has spent decades in senior leadership positions and most recently was the CFO of Vlocity, a cloud software company that was acquired by Salesforce in June 2020. He has also served as the CFO of Medallia, a cloud-based customer experience management company, and as a Partner at Khosla Ventures. However, the bulk of his career was spent at Polycom, where he held various positions, including CFO, over his 20 years with the communications solutions company.
