PayPal COO Bill Ready
PayPal's Chief Operating Officer Bill Ready is leaving the company at the end of the year to pursue "entrepreneurial" interests. Ready joined PayPal 6 years ago as CEO of Braintree and Venmo, which PayPal acquired for $800 million. As PayPal’s Chief Operating Officer, he is responsible for product, technology and engineering at PayPal, as well as the end-to-end customer experiences for PayPal’s consumer, merchant, Braintree, Venmo, Paydiant and Xoom businesses.
“Bill will always be an important part of the PayPal story,” said Dan Schulman, President and CEO. “The Board and management team are grateful for his many contributions and for the customer focus, product excellence and culture of innovation he has helped to instill over the past six years,” said Schulman. “Bill will continue to work with key partners and our leadership team until the end of the year. I appreciate his commitment to PayPal and its future.”
Prior to Braintree, Bill was Executive in Residence at Accel Partners, a leading Silicon Valley venture capital and growth equity firm. A veteran of the payments industry, Bill also served as president of iPay Technologies and as a strategy consultant for McKinsey & Company, where he advised leading financial technology companies, and was an early engineer at two other successful start-ups: emphesys (merged with Humana in 2001) and Netzee (IPO November 1999). Bill holds an MBA from Harvard Business School where he was an honors recipient and a bachelor's degree in information systems and finance from the University of Louisville.
