Revolut has had a rough week as news broke about their Chief Financial Officer resigning following an alleged money laundering lapse and Wired reporting on a toxic work culture at the UK fintech unicorn. Nik Storonsky, Revolut’s CEO & co-Founder, claimed that Peter O’Higgins resignation was unrelated to the issues it experienced with its compliance enhancement roll-out. Peter O'Higgins steps down as CFO of Revolut
Last week, The Telegraph reported that Revolut's Chief Financial Officer Peter O'Higgins had resigned following a money laundering controversy. The company admitted that the they had issues with the roll-out of a new sanction screening system but claimed that it did not result in a money-laundering breach. Peter O'Higgins had been with Revolut for three years where he scaled operations and grew the team from 20 to over 800 people
Indra Nooyi joins Amazon's Board of Directors
Amazon has elected Indra K. Nooyi as a director of the Company, and also appointed her to the Audit Committee of the Board. Nooyi was the CEO of PepsiCo from October 2006 to October 2018, where she also served as the Chairman of its board of directors from May 2007 to February 2019. She becomes the second woman of color on Amazon's board after Starbucks COO Rosalind Brewer also joined the board earlier this month.
Richard Plepler departs HBO amid WarnerMedia restructuring
Richard Plepler is leaving HBO after 27 years with the cable giant. News of Plepler's departure comes nine months after AT&T's acquisition of HBO parent company Time Warner was approved and finalized, forming WarnerMedia. The timing of the announcement comes amid a pending executive restructuring where one senior leader will oversee all TV content across its networks.
Lou Maiuri promoted to Chief Operating Officer at State Street
State Street has appointed Lou Maiuri, previously head of State Street’s Global Markets and Exchange businesses, to the role of Chief Operating Officer. In this capacity, he will have overarching responsibility for State Street’s IT, Global Delivery, Global Exchange, Charles River Development and Product teams. Maiuri will continue to serve on State Street’s Management Committee and report to President and CEO Ron O’Hanley.
L. Kevin Cox leaves American Express to join GE as Chief Human Resources Officer
L. Kevin Cox will join General Electric as Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, effective February 25, 2019. Cox was previously Chief Human Resources Officer at American Express where and the primary architect of the company's human capital plan. Before joining American Express, Cox was with PepsiCo for 16 years where he held positions leading strategy, business development, technology, and Human Resources.
