Happy International Women’s Day! According to a recent analysis by Catalyst, 45% of employees in S&P 500 companies are women but less than 27% of people in executive or senior management positions are women. Things are slowly getting better but we still have a long way to go. We hope that The Org can become part of the solution by creating more transparency to companies that take organizational diversity seriously. Check out this week in review:
Sam Altman is stepping down as President of Y Combinator
Y Combinator (YC) announced that long-time President Sam Altman would be stepping down as President of the Silicon Valley based start-up accelerator. Altman will transition to a role as Chairman and shift his operational responsibilities to other YC Partners. Read more here.
Andreessen Horowitz hires first General Partner focused on later-stage investing
David George has joined Andreessen Horowitz (A16Z) as General Partner where he will focus on later-stage investment opportunities. A16Z is building out its later-stage investment capabilities as it sees venture-backed companies staying private for longer. Read more here.
Bob Greenblatt joins WarnerMedia to lead HBO and Direct-to-Consumer
As was rumored last week, Robert Greenblatt has joined WarnerMedia to lead HBO, the linear cable networks TNT, TBS and truTV, and the Direct-to-Consumer business. The change comes as part of a larger reorganization announced by WarnerMedia. Read more here.
Michelle Gass joins PepsiCo's Board of Directors
PepsiCo announced that Michelle Gass, who currently serves as Chief Executive Officer at Kohl's Corporation, has been elected to PepsiCo's Board of Directors. Read more here.
Shutterfly names new President of Consumer Division
Jim Hilt is joining Shutterfly as President of Consumer, which is one of the company's three large divisions. Hilt was most recently Chief Customer Officer at Express where he led the end-to-end retail business, including brand strategy, stores, ecommerce, creative and total customer and brand experience, as well as overseeing distribution centers, fulfillment and customer service functions.
