Just a few months ago, in May 2020, Run The World raised $10.8 million in Series A funding co-led by Andreessen Horowitz and Founders Fund.
Zoom is a household name with a userbase that has grown to 300 million daily meeting participants as of April 2020, up from just 10 million in December 2019. Zoom’s popularity has made it the service of choice for many organizations as they look to create online alternatives to traditionally in-person events. For instance, in New York couples in the state can now legally obtain marriage licenses over Zoom and in New York City many schools use Zoom for online learning. Zoom’s platform has become particularly invaluable for many businesses and schools as it allows users to have breakout rooms, which enable participants to chat in smaller groups without leaving the main call.
Hopin’s aim is to give organizers the ability to accurately recreate the in-person event experience online and all in one place. Using Hopin attendees can network one-on-one over live video, connect and exchange virtual business cards, join breakout sessions, watch keynote presentations on stage, send chat messages, fill out polls, and explore interactive expo areas. The company takes it a step further and even provides a private virtual backstage for event speakers and branding placements for sponsors. Founded in 1999, Cvent is a pioneer in the virtual event space that has helped to virtualize millions of events around the world. The company’s early entry into the market has helped it grow to become a virtual event behemoth with more than 4,000 employees and over 27,000 customers, which account for around 300,000 users. Cvent solutions allow for hosts to merge live-streamed content with Cvent’s engagement tools, like schedule, Q&A, and networking. Cvent’s expertise and trusted brand have enabled it to help produce over 60,000 virtual events so far in 2020.
