The executive exodus at Tesla continues as Jonathan Chang leaves the company to serve as general counsel at SambaNova, an AI chip start-up. Tesla has now lost three general counsels in the past year including Todd Maron who left the company in December 2018 and Dane Butswinkas who left the company in February 2019. Tesla has faced multiple legal challenges in recent years, including a SEC lawsuit resulting from Elon Musk's tweet about taking the company private and further SEC scrutiny after Musk tweeted an inaccurate projection about Tesla’s vehicle production earlier this year. Most recently, Musk called a British cave diver Vernon Unsworth a “pedo guy” after saving 12 boys and their football coach from a cave in Thailand. In his testimony during the defamation trial this week, Musk apologized to Unsworth and said he did not believe the cave explorer was a pedophile.
