HQ Trivia and Vine co-founder Colin Kroll found dead of suspected overdose, Apttus appoints Omer Rafatullah as Chief Legal Officer, and Renault sticks with Carlos Ghosn as internal probe finds no illegality.

We start this week’s update with a piece of sad news from the tech world. Colin Kroll, the CEO & co-Founder of HQ Trivia, was found dead in his Manhattan apartment after an apparent drug overdose. Kroll previously co-founded Vine, a short-form video sharing service, which was sold to Twitter for $30 million prior to the app even launching. Apttus, the global Middle Office leader, today announced Omer Rafatullah as its Chief Legal Officer (CLO). Apttus is a Silicon Valley-based global provider of Apttus Omni, the Middle Office platform that allows enterprises to automate and optimize their most critical revenue and commercial relationship management processes. Apttus has taken over $400 million in funding and was heading for an IPO before the private equity company Thomo Bravo “bought a majority stake” in the company earlier this year. Read more here.

Renault has decided to stick with their embattled CEO & Chairman after an internal probe finds no financial wrongdoing in France. Carlos Ghosn is accused of understating his compensation from Nissan (part of the Renault-Nissan alliance) where he held the Chairman position. He is currently detained in Japan following an internal investigation at Nissan that the company said found "significant acts of misconduct" over many years. Read more here.
