WhatsApp’s chief business officer is leaving, Cruise Automation taps GM president Dan Ammann as its new CEO, and Tesla’s head of global security is out after 11 months.

The executive exodus at Facebook continues with WhatsApp’s chief business officer, Neeraj Arora, leaving the company. Arora was rumored to be the frontrunner to replace Jan Koum (WhatsApp’s CEO & co-Founder) who abruptly left the company over privacy and data concerns in April. The news follows a long string of executive departures from Facebook subsidiaries including Instagram and Oculus. Most recently, Brendan Iribe, the former CEO and co-founder of Oculus, announced his exit following reported tension with Zuckerberg. Read more here.

General Motors acquired Cruise Automation, the autonomous vehicle company, in 2016 and now the President of GM, Dan Ammann, is taking over as CEO. Cruise Automation has grown to over 1,000 employees across multiple offices and achieved a valuation of almost $15 billion. Kyle Vogt, Cruise’s CEO & co-Founder, will stay with the company but focus more on tech while Ammann will handle the business side. Read more here.

Tesla’s head of global security, Jeff Jones, who reported directly to Elon Musk, is no longer working for the company after just eleven months. Tesla has declined to comment on the departure but according to sources he was dismissed in November because “his position was no longer needed.” Tesla hired a similar profile, Karl Wagner, as Senior Director of Global Security in September.
