Grubhub’s CTO since 2016 Maria Belousova has left the company to start her own business. The food delivery company has confirmed that her last day was Friday 1 May.

An SEC filing from March 2 2020 states that Belousova informed Grubhub of her intent to resign then. The SEC filing further states that Belousova’s resignation “is not a result of any disagreement with the Company or any matter relating to its operations, policies or procedures.”

A Grubhub spokesperson said that Belousova has informed the company that she intends to start a business outside of the online food delivery space. “We’re confident she left her team well positioned for the future and are pleased she worked with her deep bench and our leadership to ensure a smooth transition. We thank Maria for all she accomplished at Grubhub and wish her continued success.”

Belousova, who is origionally from Minsk, Belarus, started at Grubhub in 2014 as VP of engineering. She was promoted to SVP of technology in 2015, and then to CTO in 2016. In this role she oversaw Grubhub’s technical infrastructure and product vision. Previously she’s held tech leadership positions at Microsoft and Bluefly, and she founded the social media platform Davai in 2009.

In February Belousova sold US$915k worth of Grubhub stock at US$51.04 per share, meaning the news of her resignation may not have come as a shock to the company.
