Salesforce has announced that Keith Block is stepping down as co-CEO of Salesforce, leaving the corporate software giant’s founder, Marc Benioff as Chair and sole CEO of the company. Block will stay on as an Advisor to the CEO.
Block joined Salesforce from Oracle as president and vice chairman in 2013, he was promoted to operating chief in 2016, and he became Salesforce’s co-CEO alongside Benioff in August 2018.
Salesforce has not given a reason for the leadership shake up, which comes just 17 months after the duel CEO role was created.
The company also announced that it plans to buy the enterprise software company Vlocity for $1.33 billion.
Also, Gavin Patterson, former BT Group CEO, will become President and CEO of Salesforce International. Patterson, who last September became the company's Chair of Europe, Middle East and Africa, will oversee Salesforce's largest international markets outside of the U.S.
