Walmart’s Chief Merchant Steve Bratspies is leaving the company, according to an internal memo sent to employees today by Walmart US CEO John Furner.

Scott McCall, who most recently led entertainment, toys and seasonal at Walmart, will replace Bratspies, the memo said.

The memo also states that Dacona Smith has been named COO of Walmart US. This role has been vacant since the former COO Judith McKenna was promoted to head of Walmart's international division in 2018. Lance de la Rosa will replace Smith at Sam’s Club, where he was previously the COO.

Bratspies’ departure is the latest in a string of management changes at Walmart. John Furner was made president and CEO of Walmart’s US division in November 2019. The chief merchant for US e-commerce, Ashley Buchanan, left in December.
