Dentsu Aegis Network has named DDB CEO Wendy Clark as its next Global CEO.

In her new role, beginning in September, Clarke will lead a collection of agencies owned by Japanese holding company Dentsu including Carat, Dentsu, Dentsu X, iProspect, Isobar, mcgarrybowen, Merkle, MKTG, Posterscope and Vizeum.

Clark joined global advertising giant DDB in 2016 as its North American CEO and president. Prior to that she spent eight years at Coca-Cola, where her most recent role was president of sparkling brands and strategic marketing for North America.

In February 2018, Clark was promoted to global CEO and President of DDB, succeeding Chuck Brymer, who moved into a chairman role, making her the first woman to lead the network in its top executive role.

Clark is experienced at leading thousands of employees across multiple agencies throughout the globe. At DDB she leads approximately 10,000 employees in 90 countries. Her new role, however, will be a further step up from this, as Dentsu Aegis operates in 145 countries with more than 42,000 employees.

She will report to executive chairman Tim Andree, who has been holding the chief executive role since Jerry Buhlmann left the business at the end of 2018.

“It’s both an incredible honor and deep responsibility to join DAN at this crucial time. Given such unprecedented global change it’s more important than ever that we’re completely focused on creating insightful, informed, important ideas for brands, businesses and their customers.” Clarke commented in a statement about her new role.
