Algolia Gains New CEO to Guide Growth

Algolia, a search-as-a-service startup, has announced that Bernadette Nixon will replace Nicolas Dessaigne as its new CEO. Dessaigne will remain a member of the company’s board.

As CEO, Nixon will use her experience redefining go-to-market strategies and launching strategic new products to guide Algolia through its next growth phase.

Prior to accepting her new role, Nixon worked at software firm Alfresco, where she served two years as the company’s CEO and two years as its Chief Revenue Officer. From 2014 to 2015, Nixon was the President and Chief Revenue Officer of enterprise software company SDL plc. She also spent 12 years at Broadcom-owned CA Technologies and 3 years as the Head of Problem Management and User Liason for the United Nations.

Nixon has joined Algolia at an opportune time, as the startup closed a $110 million Series C funding round at the end of 2019, providing it with fresh funding to continue to grow. Currently, Algolia powers website searches for 9,000 companies across 120 countries, including Slack, Stripe, Under Armour, and Twitch.

In a press release, Nixon said, “I look forward to applying my experience in scaling companies by fostering great relationships with employees, customers and partners, and taking Algolia to new heights.”

Dessaigne said, “I have always been focused on building a great company and culture to ensure Algolia can reach its true potential, and believe that Bernadette’s experience and skill set will advance the company through its next stage of growth. Her track record of scaling companies is exactly what Algolia needs at this stage.”
