The Drone Racing League (DRL), the world's top professional drone racing circuit, has announced Rachel Jacobson as its President. The appointment makes Jacobson one of the only female presidents of a professional sports league. In this role, she will be reporting to DRL CEO & Founder, Nicholas Horbaczewski.

Jacobson previously worked at the NBA for 21 years, most recently serving as the Senior Vice President of Business Development. Before joining DRL, she served as the Chief Business Development Officer at Landit, a leader in personalized career pathing technology provider for women and diverse groups in the workplace.

Jacobson, a Sports Business Journal's 40 Under 40 award winner will look to bring her wealth of experience, closing nearly $1 billion in partnership sales to the DRL, which has seen increases of almost 200% average viewership over the last year.

"Leaders across the sports and tech industries love and respect Rachel -- she's tenacious, strategic and laser-focused on delivering ROI for partners, and we're excited for her to join the league," said Horbaczewski.

Jacobson is wasting no time getting started stating, "right out of the gate, my main focus will be on developing global partnerships, media and strategic relationships for DRL. I'm also focused on building our fanbase through exciting marketing, educational, and grassroots opportunities." She also discussed longer-term goals for DRL and how the league can give back to their community by "developing unique STEM programs to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, and drone pilots while supporting our community of tech-loving, adrenaline-junkies."

In terms of piloting herself, Jacobson said she would leave that to her kids, "I can safely say my ten-year-old twins would beat me in any drone race," so she will focus on the business side of the DRL’s operations.
