Gap's CMO Steps Down After Less Than a Year in the Job
Gap’s Chief Marketing Officer Alegra O’Hare has left the company after taking on the role only 11 months ago. The company is reportedly “redefining” the role of the chief marketing officer.
The news comes a week after the announcment that Neil Fiske, president and CEO of the Gap brand, left the company.
The company announced Gap Inc. CEO Art Peck’s departure in November 2019. Robert Fisher, the son of the company’s founders, was temporarily appointed the CEO role while the company searches for a permanent successor to oversee the full portfolio of brands.
It’s been a rough year for the retail giant. In May 2019, Gap shares fell 28% after reporting low first-quarter earnings. Through the rest of the year, Gap’s stocks never really recovered, and it ended the year with a 25% lower stock valuation compared to the start of the year.
