John Dobbertin

John “Dobbs” Dobbertin is 2U’s senior vice president of student engagement, focused on delivering the greatest experience possible for learners through exemplary service. Dobbertin oversees student success, coaching, credential management, and admissions—all areas of the business key to fulfilling 2U’s mission to unlock the potential of learners across the globe.

Since joining 2U in 2017, Dobbertin has served in a variety of leadership roles centered on driving world-class student outcomes.

Dobbertin has been active in the edtech space since 1998. Prior to 2U, he was the chief operating officer at Helix Education, managing director of Australian-based EQUELLA, and senior vice president of business operations and services at Pearson.

While today he has over 20 years of experience leading teams in the edtech space, Dobbertin began his education career as a French kindergarten teacher. He holds a Bachelor’s in Education and French from Niagara University and enjoys golf, travel, hiking, wine, and fly fishing. He is happily married with a Boston Terrier pup named Tonka waiting for him at home in Denver at all times.
