Todd James

Todd James is the current Chief Data & Technology Officer at 84.51. Before that, they were with Fidelity Investments for 14 years, where they served as Senior Vice President - Data, Analytics & Intelligent Automation. In this role, they were asked by senior leadership to establish and lead a new global shared services organization to strengthen data and analytics assets for 10,000 employees, 29 million B2C customers, and 20,000 B2B clients within Fidelity’s multibillion-dollar Workplace Solutions business.

Todd set a strategy to drive a more information-driven business through a robust shared services platform that included Business Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Intelligent Automation, Data Science, Personalization, Digital Information Solutions, Analytical Consulting, and Customer Insights.

Some highlights of their time at Fidelity Investments include leading a team of 8 direct VP reports and 130+ data scientists/engineers, business analysts, product managers, software engineers, and other professionals across 9 sites; restructuring 10+ separate groups into a single analytics function and new global Agile operating model, launched in under 45 days; devising a multi-million dollar strategic AI plan, while scaling the AI function to deliver a 50% increase in throughput at a 33% reduction in cost; and leading the cross-enterprise AI Center of Excellence (COE) with responsibility for AI strategy, governance, education, ethics, and portfolios across Fidelity.

Todd James started their educational career by getting a Bachelor of Science from the US Coast Guard Academy in Mathematics and Computer Science. After that, they got a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Finally, they got an MBA in Business Administration from William & Mary – Raymond A. Mason School of Business. In addition to their degrees, Todd James has also gotten certification from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Certification, Data Science & Big Data Analytics, as well as certification from FINRA in General Securities Principal (Series 24) and General Securities Representative (Series 7).

Todd James reports to Stuart Aitken, CEO. Todd James works with Allison Unkraut - SVP, Merch & Analytics, Operations & Supply Chain, Milen Mahadevan - President, and Cara Pratt - SVP, Kroger Precision Marketing.
