Esben Jannik Bjerrum

Esben Jannik Bjerrum is an accomplished AI and ML drug discovery scientist with extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Currently serving as a Principal Research Scientist II and AI/ML Team Lead at AbbVie since 2025, they previously held significant roles at AstraZeneca, including Principal Scientist and Director of Deep Chemistry, where they advanced drug discovery through machine learning technologies. Esben has also co-founded Scikit-Mol, an open-source project aimed at improving ML and QSAR solutions in drug discovery, highlighting their commitment to innovation and mentorship. With a Ph.D. in Computational Chemistry from The Danish University of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Esben's work has consistently focused on harnessing AI to combat challenging diseases through more efficient drug development processes.
