Daniel Merkle

Daniel Merkle has extensive experience in polling, elections, and data analytics, currently serving as the Executive Director of Polling, Elections, and Data Analytics at ABC News since 1999. Prior roles at ABC News include Executive Director - Elections, Polling Standards and Vetting, Director of Elections, and Assistant Director of Polling. Previously, Daniel held the position of Director of Surveys at Voter News Service from 1994 to 1999, and served as Senior Project Director at D.S. Howard and Associates from 1992 to 1994. Early career experience includes supervising interviewers and working as a research assistant at Northwestern University Survey Laboratory from 1989 to 1992. Daniel holds a PhD and an MA in Communication Research from Northwestern University and a BA in Journalism from the University of St. Francis.
