John Baker

John leads a global team with accountability for Abcam’s market leading product and service offering of Life science tools and reagents, spanning R&D through to the Commercial portfolio and outbound Business Development. John trained as a vet undertaking both his undergraduate and clinical training in Cambridge. Following a spell in commercial animal practice, John moved to Oxford for a DPhil in Clinical Medicine, publishing on the molecular biology of the innate immune response.

John spent six years with Bain and Company in London, where he was a leader in the company’s Global Healthcare Practice, focused on the intersection between life sciences, PE, and M&A. He led teams working across multiple industries, including pharma, biotech, life sciences and healthcare. He joined Abcam in 2015.
