Katherine Sheppard

Katherine Sheppard, LPC, CPCS, NCC, currently serves as the Director of Quality and Performance Improvement and Director of Clinical Services at Riverwoods Behavioral Health System since January 2021. With extensive experience in mental health, Katherine has also been a therapist at Expansion Counseling Services since February 2017 and a crisis therapist at Acadia Healthcare since July 2012, where responsibilities include assessing individuals in need of mental health assistance in the Emergency Room and ensuring medical clearance. Katherine's previous roles include Intake Director and Assistant Intake Director at Riverwoods Behavioral, managing clinical assessments and directing admissions for acute units. With a strong foundation in mental health care, Katherine has facilitated psychoeducational groups and provided direct patient care in various capacities, starting from mental health assistant positions at multiple facilities. Katherine holds a Master's degree in Mental Health and Community Counseling from Argosy University and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology with an Emphasis in Counseling from Paine College.
