John O'Brien

John O'Brien is an accomplished engineering director currently serving at Accelera by Cummins since March 2023, leading Powertrain New Product Development. Previously, John held various roles at Cummins Inc. from May 2008 to March 2023, including Engineering Director for BEV Powertrain Integration and Technical Program Leader for BEV Powertrain. John's earlier career includes significant contributions as a Hybrid System Performance Engineer and a Graduate Student Research Assistant at the University of Michigan, where research was conducted in partnership with the US Environmental Protection Agency. John began professional work at General Motors as a Technical Support/Maintenance Supervisor from July 1997 to April 2004. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Automotive Engineering from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from GMI/Kettering University.
