James Etheredge

CEO, North America at Accenture

As Accenture’s chief executive officer of North America, Jimmy Etheredge leads Accenture’s business in the United States—the company’s largest market—and Canada. His responsibilities include driving sales, revenue and profit by bringing clients innovative services from Accenture’s strategy and consulting, interactive, technology and operations practices. He is also a member of Accenture’s Global Management Committee and leads the North America Leadership Team.

Jimmy joined Accenture in 1985 and became a partner in 1997. Prior to assuming his current role in 2019, he was senior managing director of Accenture’s U.S. Southeast region. He oversaw Accenture’s business across 10 states, including major markets such as Atlanta, Charlotte and Washington, D.C. In that role, Jimmy brought innovation to clients, attracted top talent and strengthened the company’s impact in communities. He also extended Accenture’s innovation hub network by creating an innovation incubator at the Georgia Institute of Technology and expanding Accenture’s metro D.C. hub. Early in his career, Jimmy led Accenture’s North American products operating unit, serving the retail, consumer goods, travel, manufacturing and life sciences industries.

Jimmy is passionate about paving paths for people. He is a champion of improving equality, a proactive supporter of mental well-being programs and an advocate for bridging gaps for vulnerable communities. Jimmy helped bring Accenture’s national professional apprenticeship program to its Atlanta and D.C. innovation hubs, giving members of underrepresented groups new skills so they can adapt and thrive in the digital economy.

In 2020, Jimmy earned a spot on the “Power Players of Consulting” list published by Business Insider and he ranked 28th in the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s “Power 100,” a list of the most influential Atlantans. In 2018, he was named one of Atlanta’s most admired CEOs by the Atlanta Business Chronicle. He enjoys helping nonprofit organizations and is on the boards of the Global Apprenticeship Network (a Switzerland-based coalition dedicated to work-readiness programs), the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and the Atlanta Police Foundation. He is also on the Board of Councilors for the Carter Center and on the Board of Directors for the Atlanta Area Council for the Boy Scouts of America.

Jimmy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial engineering from Georgia Tech. He lives in Atlanta, where he remains active with his alma mater, serving as a trustee and on the Alexander Thorpe board of directors. He was also inducted into Georgia Tech’s The Hill Society.
