Tom Scherer

Tom Scherer is an experienced legal professional currently serving as General Counsel at Aegon Asset Management since July 2018. Prior to this role, Tom was a consultant at Spencer Capital Holdings from 2016 to 2018, focusing on legal, compliance, and risk efforts for various companies. Tom held several significant positions at AIG from 2009 to 2015, including SVP and General Counsel, where responsibilities included leading legal functions for regional CEOs and managing a substantial investment portfolio. Tom's earlier experience includes serving as Deputy General Counsel at Swiss Re, Managing Director at Morgan Stanley, and an associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP. Tom also served as a Captain in the United States Army, receiving recognition for service. Tom holds a J.D. from Columbia University and an A.B. in English Literature from Princeton University.
