Aruna Wijesekera

Aruna Wijesekera is a highly experienced power systems engineer known for expertise in onboarding and connections within the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) from October 2017 to January 2025. In the role of Principal Power Systems Engineer, Aruna undertook power system studies, while previously serving as a Senior Power Systems Engineer, leading numerous new connection projects in South Australia and Tasmania and providing technical advice on performance assessments and system stability. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, Aruna addressed generator performance standards non-compliance issues, ensuring compliance reporting requirements were met. Earlier experience includes work as a Project Engineer focusing on technical designs for integrated control and protection applications, and roles at AGL Energy involving electrical testing and maintenance at hydro power stations. Aruna holds a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours in Electrical and Mechatronics from the University of South Australia and completed an apprenticeship in automotive engineering technology.
