Associate Director of Programming at Afro Latin Jazz Alliance

Eric Taller, Director of Programming and Production for the Afro Latin Jazz Alliance came on board in October of 2016, returning to the US from Bahia, Brazil, where he had been living and working since 2004. He is founding partner of GingaP. Culture Business, a Brazilian based company involved in various areas of music and culture, specializing in the production and programming of shows, tours and festivals that brought international artists to Brazil and Brazilian artists to the international marketplace. Focusing on Jazz, Afro Brazilian and other forms drawing from the African Diaspora experience, he worked with important artists including Joshua Redman, McCoy Tyner and Branford Marsalis. In fact, Eric first met ALJA Artistic Director Arturo O’Farrill when he was a featured guest soloist and composer on the US debut tour of Orkestra Rumpilezz from Bahia which Eric produced in the summer of 2015. Eric grew up in Berkeley, California, where his musical tastes evolved with Earth Wind & Fire, Parliament/Funkadelic and Charles Mingus, amongst others. He spent over 10 years as a programmer and producer at KPFA-FM, working with Brazilian, Jazz and Afro Latin music.
