AGIC is a European-Asian private equity firm focused on investment opportunities in the European mid-market. Founded in 2015 by Henry Cai, the firm aims at fostering sustainable growth by promoting its portfolio companies in Asia.

AGIC

Prior to joining [AGIC](/org/agic), Mr. Schiessl worked for IK Investment Partners as an Investment Associate for more than two years. During his tenure with IK, he participated in the full deal cycle from deal sourcing, execution and post-investment portfolio management, focusing mostly on the industrial and business services sectors. In addition, he was involved in supporting portfolio Companies on strategic projects such as add-on acquisitions. He also worked for [UniCredit](/org/unicredit)’s Financial Sponsor Solutions Group in Munich and London, providing Private Equity Sponsors with debt financings for buyouts. Mr. Schiessl graduated from the University of Passau with a B.Sc. in Finance and Economics.

Matthias Schiessl

Prior to joining [AGIC](/org/agic), Mr. Ding worked at Ernst&Young for more than 8 years and was audit manager of Ernst&Young China. He has helped several Chinese private companies to be successfully listed in Hong Kong and NYSE. He gained rich experience in manufacturing, retail, healthcare and advertising industry. Mr. Ding holds two bachelors’ degree in Management and Economics from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. He is a member of the Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Dennis Ding

Prior to Joining [AGIC](/org/agic), Ms. Wang worked at [Hillhouse Capital](/org/hillhouse-capital-group)’s Public Affairs and Strategy Development Department, where she focused on media communications and provided professional assistance to the investment and portfolio management teams. Before that, she was a senior staff writer with Caixin Media’s English-language publications and a founding member of Caixin Global. Ms. Wang graduated with a master’s degree from University of Denver’s Josef Korbel School of International Studies, and holds a bachelor’s degree in Management Information System from University of International Relations, China.

Nicky Wang


Prior to joining AGIC, Ms. Duan-Plainer worked in the German Investment Banking Division of [Goldman Sachs](/org/goldman-sachs), where she was involved in various M&A and capital market transactions in the German-speaking region. Ms. Duan-Plainer holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from [University of Mannheim](/org/university-of-mannheim), Germany, and graduated with two master’s degrees in Management from [University of Mannheim](/org/university-of-mannheim), Germany, and in International Business from Queen’s University, Canada.

Cathy Duan-Plainer

Ms. Cheng is the General Legal Counsel of Agic. Prior to Agic, Ms. Cheng worked as Senior Legal Counsel with Abax Global Capital and Senior Legal Director with Fosun Group, where she was responsible for advising on legal matters relating to both cross border and domestic private equity and debt investments, portfolio management across a wide range of industries and fund compliance. Prior to this, Ms. Cheng had worked as an Associate with an international firm [Allen & Overy](/org/allen-overy) in its Hong Kong office for four years and worked as an Associate with a reputable PRC law firm Haiwen & Partners in its Beijing Office for three years. Ms. Cheng holds a Bachelor of Law degree from Renmin University of China, a Master of Law degree from [Peking University](/org/peking-university) and a LLM degree from Columbia Law School. Ms. Cheng is qualified in both PRC and State of New York.

Xin Cheng

Prior to joining [AGIC](/org/agic), Mr. Engelhardt worked as a consultant with [Bain & Company](/org/bain) for more than four years where he focused on Private Equity Advisory conducting commercial due diligences across various industries. In addition, he was involved in strategic post-acquisition and organization work. Mr. Engelhardt has studied at [University of Mannheim](/org/university-of-mannheim), [Auckland University of Technology](/org/auckland-university-of-technology) as well as Queen’s University. He holds a Bachelor and a Master of Science in Business Administration.

Stefan Engelhardt

Mr. Johnny Wang is Managing Director in charge of Post Investment Management at [AGIC](/org/agic). Prior to [AGIC](/org/agic), Mr. Wang was vice president and general manager of Gerber Asia Pacific. Before joining Gerber in 2012, he served as general manager of GE Energy’s Industrial Solutions business in Greater China. Before this, Mr. Wang was chief marketing officer of the GE Consumer and Industrial business in Asia Pacific and Regional General manager for GE Plastics’ business in China. In total, he was employed by GE for 17 years. Earlier in his career, Mr. Wang worked for Husky Injection Molding Systems as general manager of Greater China and Marketing director of Asia Pacific. Mr. Wang holds an MBA from U.K.’s Strathclyde University.

Johnny Wang

Prior to joining [AGIC](/org/agic), Ms. Yuan worked at [BlackRock](/org/blackrock) Private Equity Partners in New York and participated in the full deal process of screening, due diligence, execution and post-investment portfolio tracking. Prior to [BlackRock](/org/blackrock), Ms. Yuan also worked as Associate Consultant at Boston Consulting Group (BCG), providing strategic and operational consultation to business clients. Ms. Yuan holds a Master’s degree in Finance from MIT, and a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Psychology from [Peking University](/org/peking-university).

Grace Yuan

Mr. Kang worked for DaimlerChrysler, where he was responsible for development of Chrysler’s Asia-Pacific headquarters. Prior to joining DaimlerChrysler, Mr. Kang was responsible for business development at MTR Corporation, a global railway operator. Before that, he was employed by a German machinery company being responsible for its business development in China. Mr. Kang holds a bachelor’s degree in Commerce and Economy from Wuhan University and an Executive MBA from Steinbeis-Hochschule Berlin. He is fluent in German.

Xinrong Kang

Prior to joining [AGIC](/org/agic), Mr. Mitchell worked at PwC Corporate Finance with 10 years’ experience in Mergers & Acquisitions. He gained a deep understanding of the Industrial Manufacturing and Services sector, and had also worked across numerous other sectors including Retail, Technology, Oil & Gas and Leisure. He also worked at [BAE Systems](/org/bae-systems) and gained 3 years of industry experience. Mr. Mitchell holds a Master degree in Mechanical Engineering from Nottingham University and is an ICAEW Chartered Accountant.

Ben Mitchell


Prior to joining [AGIC](/org/agic), Mr. Yankulin was a Vice President with [One Equity Partners](/org/one-equity-partners), the private equity investment arm of JPMorgan Chase, with whom he spent five years working in Frankfurt and Hong Kong. He began his career in Mergers & Acquisitions at Rothschild in Frankfurt, where he was employed for three years. Mr. Yankulin is fluent in German, English, and Russian. He studied at the University of Cologne as well as the [University of North Carolina](/org/university-of-north-carolina) and holds a diploma in Business Administration.

Erik Yankulin

Prior to [AGIC](/org/agic), Ms. Li worked as an associate with an international firm [Bird & Bird](/org/bird-bird), where she was responsible for advising on legal matters relating to both cross-border M&A and foreign direct investments. Prior to this, Ms. Li worked for a US law firm [Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman](/org/pillsbury-winthrop-shaw-pittman-llp) in its Beijing office for two years.
Ms. Li holds a Bachelor of Law degree from University of International of Business and Economics, a Master of Law degree from [Peking University](/org/peking-university).

Jing Li

Prior to joining AGIC, Charles Chen worked as investment associate in Credit Suisse in Hong Kong and CICC, where he has involved in multiple M&A advisory, equity offering and debt financing transactions. Charles graduated from New York University Stern School of Business with a B.S. in Finance and Mathematics.

Prior to joining AGIC, Michelle Li worked in the Healthcare Investment Division of Bryan, Garnier & Co in New York, where she was involved in various cross border M&A and equity financing transactions. Michelle graduated from Columbia University with a B.S. in Operations Research.

Michelle Li

Prior to joining [AGIC](/org/agic), Mr. Fraeijhoven worked in the Investment Banking Division of [Royal Bank of Canada](/org/royal-bank-of-canada) in London, where he was involved in various M&A and capital markets transactions. He also worked for Nielen Schuman, a financial advisory firm based in Amsterdam and Antwerp, where he gained experience in M&A and capital advisory. Mr. Fraeijhoven holds a M.Sc. in Financial Economics from the [Erasmus University Rotterdam](/org/erasmus-university-rotterdam), and a B.Sc. in Business Administration from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

Jason Fraeijhoven


Prior to joining [AGIC](/org/agic), Mr. Chen worked in the Investment Banking Division of [Credit Suisse](/org/credit-suisse) in New York, where he has involved in various leveraged buyouts, M&A advisory, equity offering and debt financing transactions. Mr. Chen graduated from [Brown University](/org/brown-university) with a B.A. in Applied Mathematics and Economics.

Luke Chen

Prior to joining AGIC, Ms. Duan-Plainer worked in the German Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs, where she was involved in various M&A and capital market transactions in the German-speaking region. Ms. Duan-Plainer holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from University of Mannheim, Germany, and graduated with two master’s degrees in Management from University of Mannheim, Germany, and in International Business from Queen’s University, Canada.

Cathy Duan

Prior to joining AGIC, Mr. He was a Vice President with Mubadala Investment Company, the Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund with $250 billion AUM, where he helped Mubadala invested in several healthcare investments across the globe. Before Mubadala, Mr. He spent over 5 years at Fosun International in New York, where he led multiple Medtech and healthcare transactions. Mr. He started his career at JMP Securities’ Healthcare Investment Banking division in New York and Duff & Phelps’ Valuation Services team in Chicago. Mr. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Boston University’s Questrom School of Business.

Ken He

Prior to joining AGIC, Ms. Zheng was a Principal at BroadPeak Global, a private equity firm dedicated to global industrial buyouts. Previously, Ms. Zheng worked as an investment professional in the private equity department at Invesco (NYSE: IVZ) and Great Wall WL Ross focusing on global buyouts. She was a founding member of Calibration Partners, an independent M&A advisory firm in the industrial and real estate sectors. Ms. Zheng started her career in the investment banking department at Barclays.

Ms. Zheng graduated with a B.A. in Economics from Peking University Guanghua School of Management and a LL.B. from Peking University School of International Studies. She also earned a Master in Finance degree from MIT Sloan School of Management.

Jackie Zheng

Mr. Shu Xu is Managing Director and CFO of AGIC. Prior to AGIC, he was deputy general manager in finance with China Merchants Group, overseeing all aspects in finance management and assets management. Mr. Xu started his career as an auditor in Deloitte Shanghai office. He also worked in treasury, M&A and integration with Tyco International and Anheuser-Busch InBev.
Mr. Xu graduated from Shanghai Jiaotong University with dual bachelor’s degrees in energy resources & power engineering and English literature. He also holds an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Xu is a member of the Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Shu Xu

Prior to joining [AGIC](/org/agic), Mr. Lenhard was an Investment Manager at Ambienta, a pan-European private equity firm for three years. Prior to Ambienta, he worked in the Munich office of EQT Partners, a global private equity firm, for more than four years and at Allianz Global Investors, where he focused on investments in listed European small/mid-cap companies. He holds a Diploma from the [Karlsruhe Institute of Technology](/org/karlsruhe-institute-of-technology) (KIT) in industrial engineering and business administration and a Master of Science in Finance from the Universidad Politecnica de Catalunya / Escuela de Administracion de Empresas.

Linus Lenhard

Prior to co-founding [AGIC](/org/agic), Mr. von Dewitz served as an Investment Director with Intel Capital for 13 years, with responsibility for all investment activities in Western Europe and Israel. Before Intel Capital, he was a consultant with A. T. Kearney for nearly four years, where he specialized in High-Tech and Telecommunications. He holds an MBA from [INSEAD](/org/insead) and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the Technical University of Munich, where he has also been a guest lecturer.

Heiko von Dewitz

Mr. Henry Cai is the Chairman and Founding Partner of [AGIC](/org/agic). Prior to establishing [AGIC](/org/agic), he served as the Executive Chairman of Investment Banking Asia Pacific at [Deutsche Bank](/org/deutsche-bank) and the Chairman of UBS AG’s Asia investment banking unit. He has actively contributed to and played a significant role in shaping the development of Hong Kong capital market since early 1990s, and was regarded by many in the fields as the “Grandfather” of overseas listings by private Chinese companies for his milestone work in helping businesses like [Alibaba](/org/alibaba), [Foxconn](/org/foxconn), BYD and AIA list in Hong Kong. During his professional career with leading European investment banks, Henry advised more than 100 companies – including many that have since become a Fortune 500 company — on their business model, strategic development, investment and initial public offerings in Hong Kong and the United States. Henry graduated from [Fudan University](/org/fudan-university).
