Phil Travis is an accomplished researcher and educator specializing in plasma physics. As a Graduate Student Researcher at the Basic Plasma Science Facility, Phil analyzes turbulence and transport in magnetic mirror geometries. Phil is also the Founder and First Speaker of the Future of Humanity Club, promoting a vision for a better future among students. At the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Phil has held multiple roles, including student programmer in astrophysics, teaching assistant for introductory calculus-based electromagnetic fields, and student researcher in complex systems and condensed matter physics. Previously, an internship at Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory involved studying edge-localized modes in plasma discharges. Phil holds a PhD in Plasma Physics from UCLA and a Bachelor's degree in Physics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
