Michael Foley

Michael Foley is the Regional Director for the Rest of Africa Region. In this role, he is responsible for the P&L in Chad, Congo B, DRC, Gabon, Madagascar, Niger & Seychelles.

Michael is an experienced CEO with over 30 years’ leadership and telco experience in Europe, Africa and Asia. Michael started his career at Procter & Gamble INC and has held several positions in various organizations over time. Prior to joining Airtel Africa, Michael was the CEO of Telenor Bangladesh (Grameenphone). He also held various other positions in Telenor, including CEO of Telenor Pakistan and CEO & Deputy Chairman in Telenor Bulgaria. His experience in Africa includes Chief Commercial Officer for Celtel Nigeria and Managing Director for Celtel Tanzania. Michael has sat on several boards over the years, including Chairman of Telenor Health AS, Norway and Chairman of Tameer Microfinance Bank in Pakistan.

Michael is fluent in both English and French and holds a BA Psychology (Organizational Behavior) from McGill University. He has also attended several courses at INSEAD, which include Global Management, Strategy Execution and Digital disruption.
