Katherine Elkins is a distinguished academic and leader in the field of artificial intelligence and ethics, currently serving as a Professor at Kenyon College, where Katherine founded the world's first Human-Centered AI curriculum and mentored over 60,000 AI research projects. In addition to this role, Katherine is a Member of Meta's Open Innovation Research Community, leading the Transparency Working Group and presenting research on ethical auditing frameworks and emotional manipulation detection. As Principal Investigator at both the Notre Dame-IBM Tech Ethics Lab and the AI Safety Institute, Katherine is advancing interdisciplinary research on AI ethics and safety evaluation. Katherine also co-founded KDH Lab, developed the SentimentArcs methodology, serves as Chief AI Officer at HumanCentric Labs, and is an Executive Board Member at Helix Center. Katherine's educational background includes multiple Doctor of Philosophy degrees from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor's degree in Literature from Yale University.
