Nurzian Bernsel Ismail

Nurzian Bernsel Ismail is an accomplished professional in the field of biochemistry and biotechnology, currently serving as the Head of Downstream Process Development at Alvotech since June 2025. Prior to this role, Nurzian held various positions at Xbrane Biopharma AB from December 2013 to June 2025, including Head of Downstream Process Development, Principal Scientist, and Senior Scientist. Earlier experience includes post-doctoral research at Stockholm University and Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory, as well as a scientific internship at AstraZeneca in the Cancer Research Department. Academically, Nurzian earned a PhD in Biochemistry from The University of Manchester and a BSc in Biotechnology from Imperial College London, with a year spent in industry.
