Samir Souiai

Samir Souiai is an experienced marine engineering professional with a strong background in operations and survey management within the maritime industry. Currently serving as the Regional Director of Operations for the Middle East & Africa at American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) since July 2007, Samir has held multiple roles including Area Operations Manager, Principal Surveyor, and Senior Surveyor, focusing on project management for new build jackups and surveys of various vessels. Prior to ABS, Samir worked at Exmar Shipmanagement from 2002 to 2007 as a Second Engineer, where key responsibilities included overseeing cargo-related operations and participating in the first LNG ship-to-ship transfer. Earlier experience as a Marine Engineer at Petronav involved working on oil carriers. Samir holds two Bachelor’s degrees in Marine Engineering from Hogere Zeevaartschool Antwerpen and the Merchant Marine Academy of Sousse.
