Carolyn Williams-Goldman

Interim EVP, West Region at American Cancer Society

Carolyn Williams-Goldman is the Interim Executive Vice President of the American Cancer Society West Region, which serves communities in Alaska, California, Guam, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington.

From 2017 to 2020, Carolyn served as the Vice President, Regional Business Planning & Operations for the West Region, where she was directly responsible for operational functions that enable the execution of significant region mission and income business strategies and goals. Carolyn managed a team accountable for talent strategy, financial planning & analysis, and business reporting & analysis, and serves as the lead partner, with the Society’s global headquarters, for operations functions including real estate, facilities, internal audit, legal, IT and volunteer engagement. From 2013 to 2017, Carolyn served as Senior Vice President of Operations of the Society’s California Division. Through a statewide team of 400 staff and thousands of volunteers, Carolyn was accountable for the execution of mission and income business strategies including health systems interventions, patient services, corporate partnerships and community engagement, and was directly accountable for the attainment of significant statewide income and fundraising goals.

Previously Carolyn served as the Society’s Deputy General Counsel, responsible for managing the legal operations function for all Divisions of the American Cancer Society. From 2004 to 2012, Carolyn served as the General Counsel of the American Cancer Society’s California Division where she was responsible for all legal and risk management matters relating to the Division and oversaw the Division’s Human Resources function.

Prior to joining the American Cancer Society, Carolyn served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer of a publicly traded national bank holding company where she was responsible for the bank’s legal, human resources, facilities, marketing, regulatory compliance, community development and security departments. Carolyn began her legal career as a business and banking law associate at a New York law firm. Carolyn graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a degree in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley and received her law degree from the University of California, Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law. Carolyn is admitted to practice law in California and New York.
