Clayton Besaw

Data Scientist II at American Equity

Clayton Besaw has a diverse work history in various organizations and roles. Clayton started their career as an Illicit Networks Fellow at the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START), where they conducted case study and social network analyses on trafficking organizations. Clayton then pursued a GRA/GTA role at the University of Central Florida, working from August 2014 to April 2018. During this time, they also took on the position of Visiting Lecturer at Universität Mannheim, teaching from August 2016 to January 2017. Besaw joined the One Earth Future Foundation in December 2017 and served as a Researcher on the CoupCast forecasting project and provided support for the analysis of AIS data concerning shipping routes for the State of Piracy Report. Clayton advanced to the position of Senior Analyst in April 2018 and remained with the foundation until April 2021. Recently, Besaw joined American Equity in May 2021 as a Data Scientist II.

Clayton Besaw pursued higher education from 2011 to 2018 at the University of Central Florida, earning a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD. Their specialization was in the field of Behavioral Economics/Social Science.
