Lance Fernandez

VP, Communications at American Esports

With over 15 years of experience, Lawrence or Lance is an expert on communications and writing. He started his professional career crafting Public Relations campaigns and staging events for clients such as Starbucks and General Motors, to name a few.

He then ventured into e-commerce, wherein his content strategy helped generated millions of dollars worth of sales for an Australian online store for digital cameras and related items. He also delved into SEO writing to cover various topics from travel, healthcare, and finance.

He was also the Communications Manager of the American Chamber of Commerce-Philippines, wherein he oversaw the general correspondence of the group to its members. Aside from writing memos and announcements, he helped establish the chamber’s email marketing strategy and write or edit articles for its monthly publication, The Business Journal.

Yet despite wearing other writing caps, he is a sports fan by heart and has been a sportswriter for three years. He started his journey with Fox Sports as a basketball writer and eventually became the Chief Editor and Marketing Manager for Volleyverse, which caters to volleyball. Aside from guiding a group of writers, he helped generate revenue through sponsorships from Rebisco, Mikasa, and Cignal, among others.

He was also the Senior Editor of What’s on Sports which covers major American leagues like the NBA, MLB, NHL, and NFL.He also hosted the What’s on Sports video podcast on YouTube to tackle the latest and hottest news in sports.

Finally, he is also a gamer in his spare time. He was exposed to the gaming world when he started playing Starcraft during his teens. This love for gaming led him to spend time with games like DOTA 2, Counter-Strike, and Fortnite. A trained sportscaster, he has also coached some of the top shoutcasters in the Philippines to improve their craft.

Lance graduated from University of the Philippines with a degree in BA Journalism.
